Motors, starters and distribution gear, selected to the load and the fault current.

Load list, voltage, fault current, enclosure, starter types, protection. Axle builds the bucket schedule, sizes the main and the cable, checks the bracing, and prices the lineup.

What comes in

The load list is the spec. Everything else is derived, and Axle derives it.

Typical requests

  • MCC sections and buckets from a load list or a replacement of an existing lineup
  • Motor replacements from a nameplate, with starter or drive
  • Switchgear, switchboards and panelboards with mains and feeders
  • Transformers from a load and a voltage
  • VFD and soft-starter packages
  • Cable, terminations and disconnects for a project

What Axle reads from them

  • Load list: HP or kW, FLA, duty, starter type per load
  • Voltage, phase, frequency, service factor, efficiency requirements
  • Available fault current, required SCCR and bracing
  • Enclosure: NEMA 12, 3R, 4X; indoor or outdoor; ambient and altitude
  • Protection, metering and coordination requirements, utility requirements
  • Area classification, customer standards, approved manufacturers
What Axle does

Derived from the load list, checked against the fault current.

Main sizing, bucket sizing, bracing and cable are arithmetic with rules attached. Axle does the arithmetic in code and shows the rule it applied.

Selection, configuration and sizing

  • Bucket schedule per load: FVNR, FVR, VFD, soft start, feeder; bucket size and space factor
  • Breaker and fuse selection, main and feeder sizing at 125% of continuous load
  • SCCR and bus bracing against available fault current
  • Transformer kVA and impedance to the load; motor frame, enclosure and efficiency class
  • Cable size by ampacity and voltage drop, terminations, disconnects
  • Sections, metering, and the customer's spare-bucket rule

Validated before review

  • Main and feeder sizing against the summed load with the continuous-load factor
  • Bracing and SCCR at or above available fault current
  • Starter and drive sizing against motor FLA and duty
  • Enclosure rating matches the environment
  • Cable ampacity and voltage drop within limits
  • Spare buckets and sections per the customer's standard
  • Vendor pricing current, margin above floor, lead time inside the requested date
Worked example

An MCC replacement from a six-line load list.

Three starters, two drives, one feeder, a main, and the fault current. Axle builds the schedule and sizes the main. Illustrative

Noted for the engineerMain lands at the 400 A rating with the 1.25 factor; if the customer confirms spare buckets, Axle re-checks the main against the added load before the quote goes out.
What you get

Your documents, ready to send.

Quote, BOM and submittal

  • Quote or proposal in your template, with the lineup itemized by section and bucket
  • BOM in your Excel format with buckets, breakers, drives, metering and cable listed with sources
  • Submittal: bucket schedule, equipment data sheets, bracing and rating data
  • Validation report showing the main sizing and bracing check, for your engineer

Where it plugs in

  • Manufacturer configurators and price files for your gear and motor lines
  • Vendor price files and distributor portals
  • Your ERP for part numbers, cost and inventory
  • Your CRM for the opportunity and the documents
  • Email and the spreadsheets load lists arrive in

Connectors are scoped per deployment. Where a system has no API, Axle works from the exports and files you already produce.

Questions

Electrical questions.

Does Axle size the main and the buckets from the load list?

Yes. Bucket sizes come from the starter type and FLA, the main from the summed continuous load with the 125% factor, and the result is shown with the rule applied so your engineer can check it.

Does it check bracing against fault current?

Yes. SCCR and bus bracing are checked against the available fault current in the request, and any lineup that doesn't meet it is flagged before the quote goes out.

Can it size cable?

By ampacity and voltage drop, deterministically, with the inputs shown. Terminations and disconnects are added by your rules.
